This is a traditional cuisine of Bonghwa served at the Bongseong Market since the period of rule by King Hyeonjong of Goryeo. Pork is grilled using only the pine charcoal. The grilled pork tastes exquisite as the unique fragrance of pine soaks into the meat.
Held annually in August since 1997, this festival offers a space to enjoy the great taste of charcoal-grilled pork. A variety of cultural events including pork cooking contest and piglet race take place at the Bongseong Market in Bongseong-myeon.
